Just found thus blog and spent hours going through the archives. Will spend a few (few?!) hours here as soon as I can. Waiting for some of the stuff to come back from the RS.de cold... (Truth of Truths Rock Opera, The Survival of St. Joan, and more).
Oh My Goodness!!!! WHAT a load of percussive delights. I spent three years in percussion ensemble in college because of my enjoyment of a couple of these albums, and I am thankful you've taken time to load 'em up here.
I have a major project to complete the next couple of days at work, and now I have just the right music to shut my door for and get me through!!! Thanks so much....
Thank you for the percussion! I think it's great that you go to so much effort to get the music out here for us to hear it, so that we can know that it used to exist in a time and place that, while long gone, can now be re-experienced in a fashion... I know that for a lot of this music, your sharing is the only way we who are around now will ever get to hear much of this great music, and these great musicians! You've put a lot of time and effort into this, and I appreciate it, greatly!
3-9-07 JUST PICKED UP ON PERSISTENT PERCUSSION. I WILL BE BACK FOR MORE. THANKS PS I DID DOWNLOAD RESUASIVE PERCUSSION. I HAD THE FIRST RECORD WHEN I WAS A KID IN THE 1960S. IT WAS GREAT THEN.
I have a lot of these as well and as phil spector said of barney Kessel - "he doesn't know how to play out of tune" - but you almost wish they did. a quick and dirty definition of folk music as opose to court music is it has dance elements, utilizes glissando and is played by instruments out of tune - that leaves the enoch light stuff, pardon the pun, in limbo
Here at bongobells & bongolong land you will find rips of LPs, CDs, Cassettes, radio programs, thrift store oddities and any other items I find of interest from a plethora of genres and media.
